How to play
- The wheel has seven letters, and the three hidden words are spelled with them.
- Spell a word by swiping and let go.
- If it is not in the dictionary, it is turned down and costs no try.
- If it is, it is checked against each hidden word: every letter in its place turns green, and stays.
- A hidden word is found when you play exactly that word. Find all three and the day is beaten.
Why only green
Only a letter in its place lights up. A letter that is in a word but somewhere else is not marked: you saw the word you played, so the memory is yours, not the board’s. And since the three words share their letters, what you learn about one helps with the other two.
Points
Only tries count, not time: thinking is never penalized. The fewest tries is three, one per word.
| Tries | Points |
|---|---|
| 3 | 1,000 |
| 4 | 850 |
| 5 | 700 |
| 6 | 550 |
| 7 | 400 |
Your streak and past days
The challenge changes at midnight, Madrid time, for everyone. Only your first game of today scores, and beating it extends your streak. Running out of tries breaks it.
Past challenges can be played from the calendar as practice: they do not score or count for your streak. Future days cannot be played.
The daily has no hints: with seven tries, a hint would solve it for you.
Frequently asked questions
Is the puzzle the same for everyone?
Yes. Every player in English gets the same words each day. In Spanish and Portuguese the daily is a different one, with their own words.
What words can come up?
Everyday five-letter words, with no proper names.
Can I play yesterday's challenge?
Yes, from the daily calendar, as practice. It adds no points and does not count for your streak.
